Blue Apron will bring out the chef in you. If you comfortable in the kitchen, this meal delivery kit might have you learning a new thing or two. Blue Apron offers wine pairings for their meals and several high-end kitchen essentials that show just how serious they are about cooking.
If you are looking for delicious meals and like trying new things, Blue Apron is a good choice for a meal delivery kit. They don’t have a ton of variety in their menu’s each week but they make up for it with quality, delicious recipes.
Blue Apron is not exactly cheap. A box with 3 recipes per week to serve 2 people will set you back $9.99 per serving. A box with 4 recipes per week that serves 4 is $7.49 per serving. This is on the higher end of meal delivery kits but the boxes we received were jam-packed with ingredients.
Taste is where Blue Apron really shined for us. Even the recipes we thought were going to be simple turned out delicious and we didn’t have one bad meal from them.
Unfortunately, we have to knock Blue Apron for ingredient quality because we did receive some moldy peppers in one box. At the time of writing, we’ve have received a total of 6 boxes from Blue Apron and it only happened once. Beyond that 1 time, every ingredient has been fresh.
Blue Apron doesn’t have a massive selection. There are less than 10 recipes to choose from each week. The recipes do change from week to week so if you don’t see anything you want to order, you can always skip a week.
Ease of Cooking
The recipe cards from Blue Apron are broken down into several steps and even have checkboxes so you can mark off which ones you’ve done. Because Blue Apron has more gourmet meals, their recipes aren’t for beginners. We are in the kitchen often and found that we were sometimes struggling to keep up.
The recipes are not quick, 20 minute meals but if you are looking to explore a little bit more in the kitchen, this could be the kit for you.
Blue Apron has a variety of meat, fish and vegetarian recipes. They also offer a weight watchers plan for those looking for healthier, easy-to-cook options.
